Job Description:
Baylor College of Medicine Children's Foundation-Tanzania (Baylor-Tanzania) is looking for highly motivated, well- qualified individuals to join its growing program team
Job Summary:
To provide pediatric - focused nutrition counseling, education and support services to families and patients infected or affected by HIV.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Provides direct nutritional counseling to caregivers and patients attending the pediatric HIV care and treatment clinics at the zonal referral hospital in Mbeya
• Support nutritional assessment of clients and formulates dietary care plans in coordination with other members of the clinical care team
• Counsels’ individuals and groups of patients on basic principles of good nutrition, healthy eating habits and meal planning, and nutrition monitoring to improve their quality of life
• Develops and implements new nutrition programs, activities and services based on patients needs      
• Supports orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) activities as they relate to child nutritional health, wellbeing and food security'
• Supports community level and peer education programming in basic nutrition and maintains supervisory responsibility for nutrition associated peer education outreach activities
• Develops and maintains print and non - print educational materials on nutritional topics for use by patients and clinicians
• Provides in - service educational programs for clinicians on nutritional topics as needed
• Performs related work as required
Qualifications and Experience
• Graduate from a recognized University with a degree in nutrition or its equivalent in nutrition education with licensure as a registered dietitian Minimum of two years experience in the field
• Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of nutritional care and counseling
• Experience in planning of nutrition education programs with individuals and group; work in the community an added advantage
• Skills in consumer based participatory program planning and activity implementation
• Knowledge of and experience with HIV - associated nutritional issues a plus
• Ability to identify nutrition education needs and develop appropriate programs to meet those needs

Knowledge
• Degree in any related developmental studies
• Understand development issues, trends, challenges and opportunities and implication to community (child) development.
• Knowledge of development issue especially those impacting child rights realisation
• Knowledge of cross cutting issues of gender, environment and child rights
• Knowledge on child right programming.
• Experience on project management cycle especially on the participatory approach
• Knowledge on people, financial management, Budget and grant management
Skills
• Demonstrate good oral and written communication skills creating and communicating team vision
• Good and sound financial management skills
• Problem and conflict solving, People management, Negotiation, Strong interpersonal skills Ability to manage risks
• Facilitation, ability to multi - task, Lobbying and advocacy skills Computer literate and Good English language skills (oral/written)
