Job Description:
Duties:
• Recruits, interviews, evaluates and selects qualified people to fill employment requisitions on a timely basis
• Organises and manages employment job fairs, open houses, and offsite recruiting
• Administers personnel policies and procedures as defined in the employee handbook and other policies and gives appropriate support and training to supervisory personnel
• Plays a key role in developing positive employee relations through resolution of employee issues and reporting appropriate resolutions to management
• Coordinates and/or conducts management training in employment interviewing, employment law, discipline and documentation, performance evaluation, workplace harassment, and safety or other areas as assigned.
• Regulate OSHA and safety policies and procedures and distribute training agenda for all assigned locations. Administer safety training for the assigned facility.
• Manage Workers' Compensation claims process for assigned location, including first report of injury and return to work programs.
• Conducts exit interviews, analyzes information, and generates monthly reports. Recommends procedures to reduce absenteeism and turnover.
• Is responsible for developing and implementing the orientation program (employee handbook, benefits, and personnel policies) for new employees
• Administers benefit programs to include orientation, enrollment, changes, terminations and resolution of claim issues
• Represents the Company in unemployment compensation appeal hearings
• Payroll processing (collect and audit data, run reports, update data, prepare payroll change forms, compute garnishments/levies, etc.)
• Has the overall responsibility for special projects and functions:
- Preparation of employee communication vehicles
- Company functions such as picnics, open houses, cookouts, etc.
- Contracts with outside suppliers for lunchroom vending and catering services
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Two years college education in human resources, business administration, psychology or equivalent
• 2 years of experience as an HR Generalist, preferably in a sales environment
• Ability to communicate with employees at all levels in an effective, tactful and courteous manner
• Ability to maintain and safeguard confidential information and provide a positive image for the company in all situations
• Demonstrated computer skills, preferably including experience with payroll, human resources software or equivalent.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions:
• Standard office environment
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds
• Ability to occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, reach
• Ability to work extended hours sitting at a computer
